Cynthia J. McDowell Gafford, 75, of Columbus died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Magnolia Manor.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, October 2, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 till 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gafford was born September 23, 1935 in Hamilton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Martin and a devoted grandfather Alonzo McDowell. She had worked for Tom Houston and the Nurses Professional Registry. She was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church.
She will be remembered for her love of family. We will miss her presence in our daily lives, but her memory will live forever in our hearts.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, William H. Gafford, Sr. of Columbus, GA; daughter, Tamara G. Knight and husband Don of Columbus, GA; son, William H. Gafford, Jr and wife Tina of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren, Jonathan Knight, Andrew Knight, Page Knight, Brian Gafford and Brent Gafford; siblings, Elsie Hampton of Columbus, GA, Carla Williams (Paul) of Stone Mountian, GA, Martyn A. Martin (Cairenn) of Hunstville, AL, John Martin of Boise, ID, Kay Dowis (Jim) of Columbus, GA, Rosemary Cannon (Richard) of Illinois, Thomas Martin (Melissa) of Acworth, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive flowers but those so desiring may make contributions to Beallwood Baptist Church, 4650 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904 or Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Ctr. Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904.
