CW3 (Ret.) Ralph Chamlee " RC" Kelly, 92, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, September 15, 2014 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
CW3 (Ret.) Kelly was born October 12, 1921 in Chatsworth, GA, son of the late Samuel Hill Kelly, Jr. and Sarah Ada Chamlee Kelly. He was a graduate of Murray County High School and attended North Georgia Military College. He retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. While in the Army, he served in Korea and two tours in the Vietnam War. CW3 (Ret.) Kelly was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, going to NASCAR races and he especially loved his dogs.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Kay) Kelly; daughter, Sarah Walsh; granddaughter, Patti Neely; one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his step-sons, Frank Stonebraker and wife Judy of Columbus, GA and John Stonebraker of Owens Crossroads, AL; step-daughter, Lyndra Smith and husband Louis of Bell, FL; grandchildren, Allena Keefe (Jon) of Cataula, GA, Chad Stonebraker (Cothee) of Waverly Hall, GA, Beth Wunder of Newberry, FL, L.C. (Bubba) Burnham (Stella) of Alachua, FL, Paul Walsh and Eric Walsh both of Ohio, 10 great-grandchildren, and a dear friend Rosemary Franklin of Columbus, GA.
