CSM (Ret.) Daniel Richard Agers, Jr. or "Danny" as he was known to everyone can only be described as a great man. He died on Monday, June 4, 2018 sometime in the night due to complications with his heart.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Earl Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
CSM (Ret.) Agers was born September 11, 1959 in Ft. San Houston, TX son of the late Paul Jenkins and Joan Ann Partridge Jenkins. He retired as Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army after 34 years. During his military career, he spent the majority of it as an instructor at multiple schools and in multiple things, more than that he was a mentor to all those under him and especially to his son. He had an extensive military education and worked many assignments.
During his military career, CSM (Ret.) Agers received many honors and medals such as: Afghanistan Campaign and North Atlantic Treaty Organization International Security Assistance Force Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral four, National Defense Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with gold hour glass, Good Conduct Medal sixth award, Korean Defense Ribbon, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters.
His service went beyond that of his country and deeper to his loved ones. He served in life and no doubt the knowledge he left us will show that he even serves those around him in death. We thank him for his life spent in service.
Survivors include his loving wife, Annemarie Tilkens Agers of Waverly Hall, GA, son, Daniel Richard Agers, III of Waverly Hall, GA, brother, Jay Jenkins (Denise) of Gilroy, CA, mother and father-in-law, Tom and Jan Tilkens of Cape Coral, FL, brother-in-law, Tom Tilkens, Jr. (Shannon) of Cape Coral, FL, sisters-in-law, Laura Schenk of Manitowoc, WI and Sarah Dougram (Mohamed) of Agadir, Morocco, and numerous nieces and nephews.
