Cornelia "Connie" Givens

Cornelia "Connie" Summersett Givens, 84, a long time resident of Smiths, AL went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, November 19, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Mike Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Givens was born December 14, 1930 in Geneva County, daughter of the late Silas Clinton Summersett and Rochell Brown Summersett. Connie came to Columbus in the early 1960's working at Woolworth's and the International House of Pancakes downtown as a bookkeeper and hostess for many years. Being the outgoing person she was she took on a job as an insurance agent for Mutual Savings and went on later to work for Independent Life Insurance. She loved God and some of her hobbies included spending time with her family and her cat, Sugar, and working with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Silas Clinton Summersett, mother, Rochell Brown Summersett, her brothers, Millard, Fesheril, Porter, Pasley, Odell and Willard Summersett, and sister, Anjelia Summersett Mathis.
Survivors to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debra Givens Hall, longtime partner, Donald W. White, several nieces and nephews, and a special niece that was like a daughter, Bonnie Mathis.
