Clarence Edwin Thompson, Sr., 84, Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Emory Evans officiating. An interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born March 27, 1930 in Pine Mountain, GA, son of the late Rufus Allen Thompson and Hattie Hood Thompson. He retired from the United States Air Force and also retired from AAFES after 20 years of service. He was a member of North Highland Assembly of God where he was a loving and dedicated church member and extremely friendly, never meeting a stranger.
Survivors include his fiancé, Clora Tharp of Phenix City, AL; son, Clarence Thompson, Jr. (Gina) of Box Springs, GA; two sisters, Irma Muraro of Groveland, FL and Mary Ann Hodges of Plant City, FL; four grandchildren, Nicholas Edwin Thompson and Jo-Hanna Thompson both of Box Springs, GA., Ian Perry and Erin Perry both of Upatoi, Ga., two step-sons; Mical Peri of Columbus, GA and Ronnie F. Perry (Laurie) of Midland, GA; three great-grandchildren, Jamison Thompson, Aiden Thompson, and Addison Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Highland Assembly of God Church, 7300 Whittlesey Blvd. Columbus, GA 31909.
