Columbus, Ga. SFC Cigifredo Ortiz-Zambrana, Sr. 75, of Columbus died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital.
A Mass of Christain Burial will be held 9 AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Scott Winchel officiating. Full Military honors will follow at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. A Rosary will be said 6 PM Thursday with visitation to follow until 8 PM according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
SFC Oriz-Zambrana was born in Lajas, Puerto Rico the son of the late Felomina Zambrana Ortiz and Artemio Ortiz. He retired after 25 years as SFC serving in the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict with the US Army. After serving his country he was a salesman for various car dealerships in Columbus where he was awarded salesman of the year for several consecutive years. Other than his parents he was preceded death by his sister Noemi Zambrana.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Dolores Rodriquez Ortiz of Columbus, daughter, Sandra Satterfield and husband Ed of Fortson, son, Cigifredo A. Ortiz, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Hampton, Ga., four grandchildren Michele Ruland, Clairessa Raine, Nace Purcell, and Vincent Ortiz, five great grandchildren, Isaiah, Daniel, Tyson, Zachary, and Nicholas.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make contributions to St. Anne Catholic Church 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, Ga. 31907.
