Christopher Scott Wood, 60, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Grace Community Church 4333 Fortson Rd. Fortson, GA 31808 with Reverend Clifton Bennett officiating according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Wood was born June 16, 1951 in Hawkinsville, GA son of Melita McCall Wood of Montgomery, AL and the late Wendell Claude Wood, Sr. He worked as a bus driver for Mountain Line in Montana.
Survivors other than his mother include his son, Marshall E. Wood (Lauren) of Columbus, GA, daughters, Kari S. Merriken (Kanaan) of Columbus, GA and Joy L. Shokes (Mabry) of Hope Mills, NC, sister, Elaine Hunt (Chuck) of Montgomery, AL, brother, Woody Wood, Jr. of Macon, GA, grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel and Samuel Shokes, Caleb Merriken and Dorian Wood, and mother of his children, Rita Wood of Columbus, GA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Chad Hunt (Rachel) of Fayetteville, NC, Claude Hunt (Chelsea) of Columbus, GA, Georgianna Hunt of Montgomery, AL, Lauren Terry (Chris) of Macon, GA, and Amanda Lake (Guy ) of Dublin, GA, and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy www.fsma.org.
