Christopher E. Romeo, 55, of Fortson, GA died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 3, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 7556 Old Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 with Rev. Jeff Struecker officiating.
Mr. Romeo was born January 13, 1963 in Bethesda, MD son of the late Francis and Edith Jolly Romeo. He graduated from Merritt Island High School, Brevard Community College and the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors in Accounting. He worked for Kennedy Space Center as an accountant until he transitioned into the world of Information Technology where he worked for Northrop Grumman. Aflac brought him to Columbus, GA where he made many close friends in the 13 years he was there.
In recent years, he worked as a Professional Services Architect for Ping Identity, he thoroughly enjoyed his career and the many close friends he made. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. His passion was serving his beloved children in the AWANA program. His vibrant personality was noticed within minutes of meeting him and he could make jokes with anyone.
He was excited about new adventures with his wife in doing projects in their home, flipping houses and spending time with his young grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his shop on his old truck, racing and building engines. He was a Star Wars and Star Trek nerd, enjoyed bowling, golf and shared his love of table tennis with his son, Ryan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra J. Romeo of Fortson, GA, sons, Ryan Romeo (Kaitlin Inscore) of Athens, GA, Dillon Smith (Haley) of Columbus, GA, Wesley Smith (Kristyn) of Phenix City, AL and Trevor Smith (Kayleigh Saal) of Columbus, GA, brothers, Allen Romeo (Suzanne) of Port St. John, FL, Charles Romeo (Lauren) of Rockledge, FL and Patrick Romeo of Stuart, FL, grandchildren, Owen Smith and Jace Smith, and nieces and nephews, Jeff Cooper, Heidi Holst, Sarah Wright and Janedy Romeo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Awana Program.
