Chong Cha Meek (Om)

Our beloved wife and mother Chong Cha Meek (Om) sadly passed away on July 12, 2022, at the age of 71 surrounded by family. She was an amazing Wife, Mother and Halmoni who was loved by all and adored by many.  She was always there when we needed her.

On Monday July 18, 2022, the family will receive friends and family from 5:00-7:00 pm at McMullen Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by a procession and graveside service at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Chong was born in Seoul, South Korea to the late Om Ki Pung and Won A Chum. After meeting her husband of 43 years in Seoul, South Korea they were married in December of 1978.  They traveled around the world with the military for several years to include Korea, Germany, and Italy before settling in Columbus, Ga in 1993.

Chong was a devout Christian who was very active in her church. She was an active member of Rock Presbyterian for 26 years where she was always willing to lend a hand when needed. She spent many hours volunteering for various activities within the church.

She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Chong loved to travel. She loved to explore new places with her family. Her favorite places to travel were to the beach and the mountains.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years William L. Meek of Columbus, Ga, children, Roy Meek, Julia (Timothy “TJ”) Higgs, Maria Meek, grandchildren, Osten Joiner, Dejaha Patterson, Briana Patterson, Teagan Higgs, Ava Meek, Anna Meek, and great-granddaughter Estelle.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
