Charlotte Jane Kapelka

Mrs. Charlotte Jane Kapelka, 84 of Columbus, GA died Saturday, February 27, 2021. Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at 1:30 PM (EST) at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery,  Ft. Mitchell, AL. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, facemasks and social distancing will be required.

Mrs. Kapelka was born March 16, 1936 in Chicago, IL. to the late John Dodge and Caroline Wenz Dodge. She was a Catholic by faith, self-employed and worked as a cosmetologist. Mrs. Kapelka was a loyal supporter and the past President of the State of Alabama VFW Auxiliary. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, especially visiting Gulf Coast beaches.

Survivors include her husband, Command Sergeant Major Lester Edward Kapelka ( US Army, retired), Columbus, GA,  daughters, Sherri Christensen, Columbus, GA, Deborah Smith, Lakeside, CA, Deena Griffith (Sanders), Columbus, GA, Michelle Hardwick (Jeff), Phenix City, AL and Leslie Gosch (Peter), Columbus, GA,  her brother Herbert Samuel Dodge (Bonnie), Chicago, IL, 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
