Charlie Richard Spurlin, 91, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th Street, Phenix City, AL 36867 with Reverend Dewayne Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Spurlin was born December 31, 1922 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Charlie Wesley Spurlin and Annie Newmans Spurlin. He retired in 1962 from Fieldcrest Mills and attended Pierce Road Assembly of God Church in Phenix City, AL.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Jewel Spurlin, his second wife, Ruth White Spurlin, his brother, Arnold Spurlin and his sister-in-law, Irene Spurlin.
Survivors include his son, Roy Lee Spurlin (Pat) of Phenix City, AL; daughters, Margaret Carolyn Dimond (George), B.J. Moon (Leo) all of Phenix City, AL and Betty Sue Waites (Tom) of Columbus, GA; step-daughter, Dorothy Maxine Carpenter (Wayne) of Eufuala, AL; step-son, Mac White, Jr. (Debbie) of Sylacauga, AL; sister, Dorothy Hughes of Richmond, VA; brothers, Wade Spurlin of Winter Garden, FL and Wilbur Spurlin (Pat) of Smiths Station, AL; sister-in-law, Joyce Spurlin of Smiths Station, AL; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
