Charlie Otis Cason, 74, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Columbus Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Howle and Reverend Andy Merritt officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Cason was born December 24, 1937 in Newton, AL son of the late Foy Milton Cason and Cora Daniels Cason. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a Superintendent with Smith- Gray Electric Company. He was a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he served as an usher for Sunday morning services. He also served for many years as a Deacon at Cascade Hills Church. He was a strong believer in the power of prayer, and he devoted many hours of his free time serving in the Prayer Room at Edgewood Baptist Church where he volunteered an hour there every morning. He loved his church and his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Milton Cason and his sister, Thelma Watson.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nell Watford Cason of Columbus, GA, sons, Michael Otis Cason (Rita) of Columbus, GA, Bobby Cason (Kim) of Glennville, GA and Phillip Cason (Kim) of Fortson, GA, brothers, Gilbert Cason of Philadelphia, PA and Floyd Cason (Jean) of Milwaukee, WI, sisters, Myrtle Barnes (Ray) of Tallahassee, FL, Opal Burt (Leon) of Columbus, GA and Edna Shoemaker (George) of Midland, GA, four grandchildren, Ben, Matthew, Chandler, and Gavin Cason.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Edgewood Baptist Church Phase II Building Fund or the Sound Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center 3564 Forrest Rd. Columbus, GA 31907.
