Charles Richard Wright, Sr. 90, of Chattahoochee County, Cusseta, GA died Thursday, March 9, 2023.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907.
Charles was born April 23, 1932 in Franklinton, NC to the late Richard Sydney Wright and Selene Woodlief Wright. Mr. Wright retired from the US Army after serving 25 years during at which time he fought in the Korean War and the Viet Nam Campaign. He served his last ten years as part of the Army Marksmanship Unit in Ft. Benning, GA. During his time in the military he received multiple honors for his dedication and service. After retiring from the army he taught machine shop and welding for Randolph Clay High School for 12 years and owned Bullseye Shooters Supply in Cusseta Ga. Hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all feeding his birds were his main hobbies. He was a life time member of the First Baptist Church in Cusseta, GA.
Other than his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Peggy Dixon Wright and brother, Renchor Wright.
He is survived by his sons, Charles Richard Wright, Jr. (Julie) of Phenix City, AL and Randy Dixon Wright of Fortson, GA, daughter, Theresa Joanne Dunnivan of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren Dwayne Dunnivan (Jennifer), Briana Klepper (Brandon), Kayla Cushman (Cody), Jeremy Dunnivan and Emily Dunnivan, and five great grandchildren.
