Charles M. Moudy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia, after a courageous six-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was 73 years old. Born on May 2, 1951, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mike, as he was affectionately known, dedicated 22 years to serving his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. His exemplary service earned him numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Mike pursued a distinguished career after his military service, working for fifteen years as a contract investigator and special agent for the Defense Security Service and Office of Personnel Management. He approached both his professional and personal lives with a commitment to excellence and an adventurous spirit that endeared him to many.

Forever cherished by his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Moudy, Mike was a devoted father to Charles Moudy II and daughter Carey Rogers, and he took great pride in his grandchildren: Janson Hindsman, Charles "Chaz" Moudy III, Zachary "Zach" Moudy (Courtney), and Kaylan Moudy. He shared a special bond with his son-in-law, Arlo Rogers, as well as with his son’s partner, Tracie Price. Mike will be deeply missed by his brothers: Bill Moudy (Ruth), Bob Moudy, David Moudy, Jim Moudy (Cathy), and Rick Moudy, along with his 11 nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

A man of many passions, Mike was an enthusiast of the outdoors. His hobbies included scuba diving, bodybuilding, skiing, and fishing. He was also actively engaged in his community, coaching his grandson's soccer and baseball teams, all while maintaining a vigorous fitness routine. The Peachtree Road Race was a tradition that he ran alongside his daughter for nine consecutive years, reflecting his dedication to family and fitness.

Known for his quiet charm and unwavering support, Mike enjoyed hosting family gatherings, especially the annual Memorial Day get-togethers where he would prepare his renowned low country boil, a cherished recipe that brought everyone together. Though life became more challenging following his diagnosis, Mike's spirit never wavered. He and Bobbie continued to embrace life, making lasting memories with family, friends, and in their travels—especially during their time in Florida, which held profound significance for both.

Mike is predeceased by his parents, William and Phyllis Moudy, whose love and guidance shaped him into the remarkable man he became. As family and friends gather to celebrate his life, they will remember his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his infectious enthusiasm for adventure, and his enduring legacy of kindness and support.

Charles M. Moudy leaves behind a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
