Charles Francis Knapp

Charles Francis Knapp (Chuck), 84 of Hamilton Ga. died Saturday June 19th at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, June 24, 2021 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Pantiru officiating. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2021 with the family receiving friends following the Rosary until 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Chuck was born on April 3, 1937 in Boston Massachusetts. He was the son of James and Mary Knapp (Kemmitt) of Boston Massachusetts.  He entered the US Navy in 1955 and began a 21-year military career.  He proudly served as a Parachute Rigger on several aircraft carriers and air squadrons. He earned 3 good conduct medals, National Defense medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary medal (Lebanon). Upon retiring from the Navy in 1976 he earned a degree in Nursing from Columbus College. He began a career in Nursing working for the State of Georgia in the West Ga health district. He retired from The Columbus health Department in 1999.  Chuck and Jean loved to dance and were members of several square-dancing clubs in Columbus.

Chuck was preceded in Death by his parents and 9 siblings.

He is survived by his wife Jean Knapp, and 6 children and 14 grandchildren.
