Charles Steven Fullerton of Columbus, GA, passed away at St. Francis Hospital on Friday, June 14, 2024.

A celebration of life and visitation will be on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Midland United Methodist Church (9100 Warm Springs Rd) in Midland, GA, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

He was the son of the late Huey Charles and Mary Watford Fullerton.  Who we know were waiting to welcome him to his new life in paradise.

Steven was a Christmas Eve Baby, born December 24, 1952.  He always said he got jipped on his birthday by having to share it with Christmas.

He met the love of his life, Dawn Ashworth Fullerton, on a blind date, fell in love quickly and married 7 months later. They were married 47 years and had an unconditional love (365/7). That was sealed by God when they said their “I do’s.”

Steven loved to learn and had a strong drive to help others.  He received two masters’ degrees and developed a passion as a Licensed Crisis Counselor (retired).  This role brought great satisfaction knowing he could provide comfort to others in times of a crisis in their life.

He was a big cheerleader for Alabama.  Prior to each game he hung his Alabama flag outside in its special place.

Steven loved his family and enjoyed spending time celebrating special events, camping, taking day trips or just a meal with them.  He was blessed to have 3 wonderful grandchildren.  We are so thankful that he saw Taylor, his first grandchild/daughter, graduate high school just a month ago.

What a jokester and prankster he was.  Never knew what to expect.  He definitely kept us on our toes.

His John Deer tractor was a great “toy” he loved using to work on projects and ride the grandchild in their younger years.

What a special man Steven was and left quite a “dash” in his 71 years.  Now his journey on earth is complete, he is celebrating new life with our Lord Jesus Christ and his family in heaven.

He is survived by his wife: Dawn Ashworth Fullerton of Columbus, his daughter: Stefani Legnetto of Midland, GA, his son: Chris Fullerton and wife, Suzanne, of Waverly Hall, GA.  His wonderful grandchildren: Taylor Legnetto, Hayden Legnetto and Ashlynn Fullerton.  Sister:  Brenda Cloud (James) and sister-n-law: Marna Nollen (Larry) all of Columbus, GA.  He was blessed to have two special friends he loved and cherished:  Keith Owen (Gabi) of Columbus, GA and William Caldwell (Gloria) of Gray, GA.

Flowers may be sent to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, however, in lieu of flowers, contributions to Midland United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 118, Midland, Ga 31820) for Carpenter’s Way Ranch (a home for boys) are welcomed.
