Charles Edward Francis, Sr.

Charles Edward Francis, Sr., 85 of Phenix City, AL died April 5, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Greg Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 facemasks and social distancing will be required during the funeral service and visitation.

Charles was born November 1, 1935 in Columbus, GA to the late Edward Ralph Francis and Bittie Godfrey Francis. He retired as a Rural Route Carrier for the United States Postal Service and served in the Military as a Marine. Charles was a long-time Mason, and a member of Columbian Lodge #7. He was a Shriner as well and a member of the Columbus-Fort Benning Shrine Club as well as Past Potentate (2006) of Al Sihah Shrine Temple in Macon, Georgia. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his son Charles E, Francis, Jr., first wife, Doris Davis Francis and second wife Dovie Lee Francis.

He is survived by his daughter Pamela Francis of Columbus, GA, step-daughter Brenda Meadows (Bobby) of Phenix City, AL, daughter-in-law Lisa Francis of Seale, AL, grandchildren Brittany Townsend (Derek) of Smith Station, AL, Christopher Reed (Ashley) of Athens, GA, Bradford Francis of Columbus, GA, Michael Reed of Landrum, SC, Lauren Sports of Phenix City, AL, three great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
