Charles Flora, 77, of Columbus, GA died March 3, 2024 at Columbus Hospice.

Charles was born November 3, 1946 in Ft. Campbell, KY to the late Jack and Elsie Flora. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States army serving in Vietnam with B Troop 2/17 Calvary 101st   Airborne Division. He also served with the Prestigious Berlin Brigade and five years as a Drill Sergeant in Ft. Benning, GA.  After retiring he served with distinction at the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department as a patrol deputy and was the first k-9 handler.  He received a letter of commendation from the FBI,VEA, Metro Narcotics. He retired in 2012 from sheriff’s office. Charles was a casualty of the Vietnam War where he developed pulmonary fibrosis from the burn barrels 55 years later.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Carroll Ann Tuesler and his loving wife Patricia Anne Flora.

He will be returned to his wife at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery where they will be together for eternity. Charles is survived by his daughter, Tosse, and granddaughters, Tessa, Bella, Ellie.
