Chad Jason Jones went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 15, 2024, at the age of 53. Born in Columbus on April 7, 1971, Chad's life was one marked by service, laughter, and an immense love for his canine companions.
Chad’s Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 24, at 2:00 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Boulevard, Columbus, GA, with Interment to follow at Linwood Cemetery, also in Columbus. Visitation will be immediately prior to the service, beginning at Noon at the funeral home. Pallbearer include his fellow firemen, Travis Davis, Ben Hardy, Bobbie Jones, Luther Miller, Chris Price and Adam Willis.
Chad was the son of Kenneth Slaughter Jones and Sandra Fuller Hooks, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved and devoted sister, Tamara (Tammy) Reynolds, and her husband, Matthew, who will forever hold dear the memories of a brother whose life was a testament to loyalty, laughter, and love.
An alumnus of Columbus College, now Columbus State University, Chad earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, a field that reflected his unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. His dedication to service was further exemplified through his honorable tenure in The United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served as part of the first wave of Marines on the ground during Desert Storm at the outset of The Persian Gulf War.
Upon returning to civilian life, Chad continued his life's mission of service in a new capacity as a Firefighter/Paramedic. For 25 years, he dedicated himself to the Columbus Fire Department, saving lives, educating the community, and retiring with the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Chad's passions were as vast as his heart, with his love for his dogs shining as brightly as his service record. Never without a canine companion, Chad found solace and joy in the company of his beloved pets, each of whom was as much a part of his family as his human relatives. His affinity for fishing was equally renowned, with countless hours spent aboard his shiny red fishing boat, often with a furry friend by his side, in pursuit of the elusive bass that brought him so much peace and contentment.
A master storyteller, Chad possessed the rare ability to bring laughter and delight to any gathering. His impersonations were not mere performances but experiences that captured the essence of his subjects, leaving audiences in stitches, no matter how many times they had heard the tale. His stories were gifts, shared generously and received with eagerness by all who knew him.
Chad's loyalty knew no bounds. His circle of friends was unbreakable, and to be a part of it was to be assured of a steadfast ally for life. He was the embodiment of selflessness, always willing to lend a hand or an ear, often accompanied by a story that would lighten even the heaviest of hearts.
To his beloved sister, Tammy, Chad was not just a brother but a beacon of love and gratitude. Their bond, unshakeable and precious, was as strong as a rock, and her love for him will endure in her heart forever.
In sum, Chad Jason Jones lived a life that was a beacon of service, laughter, and unconditional love. Those who had the fortune of crossing paths with him were touched by a spirit so genuine and full of life that to know him was, indeed, to love him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the joy he brought to our lives and find solace in the knowledge that his love for us was as boundless as ours for him. Chad's story may have reached its conclusion, but his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know him.
