Cecil Aaron Hopkins, Jr., 78, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 10, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his beloved family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 14, 2024 in the chapel of  McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held with full military honors, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 12:30 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-Hwy. 165, Ft. Mitchell, AL.

Cecil was born November 2, 1945 in Columbus, GA to the late Cecil Aaron Hopkins, Sr. and Helen Hammack Rugg. He served in the United States Navy for 2 years and the Naval Reserves for 18 years. After his military duty, he worked in sales at various automobile part companies including, Victory Auto Parts and Advance Auto Parts. He was an avid bowler and participated in many bowling leagues in Columbus throughout his life. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved attending local high school football games with his best friend, Jimmy Holland, and his special nephew, Charles. Above all else in his life, Cecil loved Jesus and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He loved praise and worship music and worshiped his Savior boldly with great joy.

He was a wonderful family man who loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. He really enjoyed vacationing in Helen, GA where he loved visiting antique stores and playing UNO with his family and friends. He was the best Poppy to his two grandchildren, his Abby and his Benji. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jackie Hopkins of Columbus, GA, Son: Milton Hopkins of Columbus, GA, Daughter: Shannon Williamson (Dustin) of Cataula, GA, Sister: Beverly Taylor (Gene) of Phenix City, AL. Brother: Patrick Higham (Leslie) of Dallas, GA. Grandchildren: Abby Williamson and Benjamin Williamson both of Cataula, GA. Special Nephew: Charles Mixon of Columbus, GA along with several additional nieces and nephews.
