Cecil Avery, 71, of Columbus, Georgia, died peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, June 9, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Cecil was born July 27, 1951 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Leslie Baker Avery and Rachel Oliver Avery. He worked as a machinist for Cessna for years and was a loom fixer at the Bibb Mill in Bibb City where he grew up. Cecil was an avid Alabama Football Fan. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Bobby Avery, sisters, Martha and Joanie.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Marie Moss (Mike) of Hurtsboro, AL, son, Cecil LaDon Avery (Amy) of Columbus, GA, grandson, Kyle Jeffries (Jules) of Hendersonville, NC, granddaughters, Christi Burdershaw (John) of Columbus, GA, Devyn Hiannat of Columbus, GA, brother, Tommy Avery (Gennie) of Columbus, GA, great-grandchildren, Bailey, Kenleigh, Dylan, fur baby, Lionesse, numerous of nieces, nephews and other family members.
