Catherine "Cathy" Joyce Cox, 58, of Phenix City, AL died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her residence.
A private Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held 11:00AM Friday, July 24, 2020 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mike Ennis, Rev. Steve Croft, Spud Warr and Tony Miller will be sharing briefly per Cathy's request. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, those attending the funeral service will be required to wear a face mask and social distancing will be in effect.
Cathy was born January 25, 1962 in Ft. Benning, GA to the late Leonard Andrew Cox and Launa Hampton Cox. She graduated from Auburn University and Troy University with her Master's degree. She was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and served as the Bereavement Counselor for Kindred Hospice. Cathy was a gifted, wise counselor who helped many people over years of service to this community.
Cathy's faith in God gave her strength throughout her life but especially in her last year. Her sense of humor was a gift that brought a smile to many. ALS took many things from her but her faith and her sense of humor were strong until the end. She lived her life with joy and wonder and along the way helped others to do the same. She will be remembered as someone who loved with all of her heart.
She is survived by her brothers, David Cox (Becky) of Unadilla, GA, Dan Cox (Janice) of Orlando, FL, nephew, Ben Cox (Missy) of Pinehurst, GA, great-nephew Forrest Cox of Pinehurst, GA, nieces, Cate Cox (name sake) of Savannah, GA, Alli Cox Bastani (Ramin) of Los Angeles, CA, nephew, Dr. Matthew Cox.
