Carolyn was born December 25, 1934 in Clio, Alabama, daughter of the late William

Gettice Bryan and Alma Berline Shipes Bryan. She attended Faith Outreach Church in Phenix City, Alabama. She worked as a secretary/legal secretary throughout her working years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved entertaining and had pool parties for her grandchildren and their friends. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends all knew Carolyn as “Mama Caroline”, she was everyone's grandmother, protector, secret keeper (we are glad she didn't tell our parents everything) and prayer warrior. She was generous with her time, helping, loving, and ministering to anyone in need as God led her to do countless times throughout her life. She was a woman of staunch and unwavering faith in God. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Those who knew her best will remember her favorite saying when she was a little exasperated with certain situations; “well, it’s been real”; always with a big reassuring smile.

Other than her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husbands Calvin Thorpe, Bobby Linton, sister, Virginia Ward, brothers, Charles Bryan, Billy Bryan, and granddaughter, Lindsey Thorpe.

Survivors include her children, Enina Bates (Russell “ Rusty”) , Steve Thorpe (Diane), grandchildren, Jarred Thorpe, Geoffrey Bates (Christina), Haleigh Golden (Charles), Collin Thorpe, Jenna Thorpe, great grandchildren, Taylor Johnson (Nathan), Caleb Bates, Trent House, Caroline Golden, Georgia Golden, Coleman Golden, Cameron Thorpe, great-great granddaughter, Graysen Johnson, step-grandchild, Ansley Summerlin, brothers, Cleveland Bryan (JoAnn), Hardy Bryan (Elaine), brother-in-law, James Earl Ward, numerous  nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, outlaws and other family members.
