Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Carolyn, known affectionately by those around her, spent her childhood in the warmth of Ocilla before moving to Columbus, Ga where she would later become a cherished member of the community. She shared a beautiful marriage with the late Stanford Childs, and together they nurtured a loving family that expanded to include their children, Pastor Mike and Kym Childs of Midland, Greg and Gayla Childs of Pine Mountain and Shari and Jay Carter of Pine Mountain, and her sister, Kitty Jean Paulk of Ocilla, Ga.

Carolyn's role as a mother was only surpassed by her joy in becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, Aaron Hale, Lacy Coley, Brett Childs, Johnny Carter, Corey Childs, Kyndall Childs, Tanner Childs, and Grant Carter, along with her 16 great-grandchildren. Her eyes would light up with each visit, each milestone celebrated, and each moment shared.

For 21 years, Carolyn served diligently as a secretary for the Muscogee County School District. Her professionalism and warmth made her a favorite among her colleagues and the many educators and students she encountered. Carolyn's commitment to her work was second only to her devotion to her family and her faith.

Carolyn's interests were a reflection of her loving nature. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family, ensuring that each gathering was filled with laughter and love. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she served her church with the same kindness and generosity that she offered to everyone she met.
