Carol (Hawkins) Osteen

Carol Hawkins Osteen, 85, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907, with Mr. Cody Dykes officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM Wednesday at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 face coverings and social distancing will be required during the graveside service and the visitation.

Carol was born May 14, 1935 in Birmingham, AL to the late Ralph Hawkins and Bess Harris Hawkins. Throughout her career as an elementary school teacher, she taught at several Columbus schools including Mathews and Brookstone. She was an Auburn alumni and huge Auburn Football fan and loved to play Bridge and read. She was a member of various garden and book clubs and Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was in the church’s Inquisitors Sunday school class and bible study. And she always enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jack Osteen.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Osteen (Jamie) of Valencia, Spain; daughters, Jacki Wilson (Roger) of Falls Church, VA and Laurie Osteen of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Alex Dykes (Cody) of Phenix City, AL, Ryne Holland (Gabby) of Moreland, GA, and Joshua Osteen of Valencia, Spain; and great-grandchildren, Carter Dykes, Jackson Holland, and 2 soon to be twin great-granddaughters.
