Ms. Carol Jean Goodman, 73, of Columbus, GA died Friday, October 12, 2018 at Columbus Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Rod Weiss officiating. Active pallbearers will be Joe Watson, Richie Greenhaw, Larry Goodman, Charlie Pritchett, Freddie Manning and Daniel Cooper. Honorary pallbearers include her Sunday School Class, all the men at Grace Church of the Nazarene, Dr. John Henderson, Mike Morgan and Alan Ziegler. A private interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the funeral home.
Ms. Goodman was born September 05, 1945 in Jacksonville, FL daughter of the late Horace M. "Pot" Goodman and Dorothy Louise "Dot" Barlar Goodman. She was considered a matriarch of Grace Church of the Nazarene where she worshiped and served for over 70 years. Ms. Goodman will be remembered as a loving caregiver for her family and friends as this was her nature. She was an educator by profession, serving as Senior Guidance Counselor at Jordan High School for many years. Ms. Goodman had a great love of all sports and four legged creatures. Her older sister, Sandra Wills, says she was "the best birthday present she ever had" because they share the same birthday, just four years apart. She will be missed by her family and friends, but forever remembered as a loving and caring sister, aunt, and friend.
Survivors include her sister, Sandra Wills, Columbus; two nephews, Joe Wills (Cheryl Suber), Midland and Len Wills (Maria), Newnan; close friend; Audrey Ziegler; numerous other family members and friends.
Flowers will be accepted or those wishing are asked to make donations in her memory to Grace Church of the Nazarene or an Animal Charity of your choice.
