Carol Lee Funston

Carol Lee Funston, 81, of Columbus, GA died Friday, September 15, 2023 at her residence.

A Celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Speer and Rev. David Dodgen officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Carol was born November 28, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Leroy and Carol Schultz.She attended Whitney Vocational High School in Toledo, Ohio. After retiring Carol and her husband Bill traveled the U.S. participating in craft and market events. After Bill passed away in 2005, Carol returned to Columbus and helped raise her grandson, Jonathan.

Carol loved hanging out with her friends and family who loved her very much. She always looked forward to the lunches and outings with her “gals” and family dinners. She especially loved attending church, going to Bible studies and her trip to Israel with her church family. At home, Carol liked seek and find puzzles and watching old westerns on T.V.. She was a kind and generous person, always had a smile on her face, and never met a stranger. Carol had a positive personality, great faith in the Lord, and was a strong, independent person.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Schultz-Planto, TX, brother in law,  Mike Colter (Darla) Junction City, GA, sons, Jim Funston (Tonya Bean) Smith Station, AL, David Funston (Lisa Funston) of Cataula, GA, grandchildren, Lauren Corley (Ben), Jonathan Funston, Brandi Rodriquez (Damein), Justin Phillips (Jekerri), April Gibson, Carey Phillips, Wendy Blessinger (Raymond), Misty Kirby, Amanda Bean  and 15 great-grandchildren.
