Carlotta P. Pettitt, 88, of Columbus, GA died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held
Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the small Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1953 Torch Hill Road, Columbus, GA 31903 with Father Brian LaBurt officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Pettitt was born March 18, 1924 in Liverpool, England daughter of the late Domingo Garrad DlaCruz and Margaret Foy DlaCruz.
She is a Catholic by faith and attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Holy Family Catholic Church. She also enjoyed spending time at the South Columbus Senior Center. Before moving to Columbus, Mrs. Pettitt was a member of England's Rosie the Riveter squad where she sewed parachutes for the allied forces battling in World War II. After moving to Columbus, she worked at the Main Post Commissary as a cashier and later as a greeter. She was a loving sister and aunt. She is now at peace in the hands of her God.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kevin Pettitt.
Survivors include her loving sister, Josephine Runion of Columbus, GA; two nephews, Lynwood Runion (Nancy) of Port Richey, FL and David Runion of Columbus, GA; two nieces, Sharon Zebreski and Carol Vinyard (Mark) both of Phenix City, AL; and four great nieces and nephews, Christina McDonald and Daniel Harden of Phenix City, AL and Damon Runion and Jessica Harden of Columbus, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
