Carl Ray Zachry, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel at 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Mr. Roger Johnson officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Coal Hill, AR on March 25, 1933, the son of James and Sadie Jane Zachry. Carl graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1952 where he met his wife Charlotte Odum. After serving for two terms in the Air Force, he went on to pursue a career in typesetting, and later started his own business, Creative Typography in Tulsa, OK.
Carl, or Ray as known to many, was proceeded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Greenwood. He leaves his wife of 63 years, his daughter Vicki Silva, his son James Zachry, his brother William Fay Zachry, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
