Smiths, AL - Cammie M. Houston, 86 of Smiths, AL died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dwayne Dean officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM EDT, in Victoria Baptist Church Cemetery, Victoria, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 till 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Houston was born February 28, 1923 in Coffee County, AL daughter of the late Andrew Parrish and mother, Mattie Smith Parrish and wonderful step-moma, Gensie Hall Parrish. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills after working as a spinner for 33 years. She was a member of Cedar Hills Baptist Church where she was the church treasurer for 44 years and Sunday School teacher for 45 years. She returned to Central High School where she received her diploma and walked with the graduating class of 1971. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ralph Houston and daughter Faye Ellen Houston.
Surivors include her sons, Levy Earl Houston and wife Debbie of Shellman, GA and Ray Andrew Houston and wife Nancy of Smiths, AL; sisters Agnes Houston Rogers and Elizabeth (Lib) Parrish both of Phenix City; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
