C.A. “Billy” Bedgood

C.A. “Billy” Bedgood, 93, of Columbus died February 19, 2025 at his daughter’s residence in Waverly Hall, GA surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 Saturday February 22, 2025 at Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church, 6304 Lynridge Drive, Columbus, GA with Rev. Travis Rigsby officiating.  The visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907

Mr. Bedgood was born October 14, 1931 in Thomaston, GA the son of the late Duran A Bedgood and Effie L. Bufford Bedgood.  He had lived most of his life in Columbus except for a tour of duty in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He attended Bibb City and Baker High schools going on to attend a number of USPS technical schools.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 after 35 years service having held several positions.  The last 22 years he worked for the Atlanta Facilities Service Office, USPS, as a certified Elevator/Boiler Inspector.  He was an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham) having earned his license in 1980.  At onetime a member of the Columbus Amateur Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Ruth Quattlebaum Bedgood, “The Love Of His Life”, daughter: Connie Bedgood Clary (Brent) of Waverly Hall, GA, Grandchildren: Brent Clary, Jr. (Brittani) of Midland, GA, Daniel Clary (Christi) of Waverly Hall, GA. and Amanda Clary Phillips (Eric) of Geneva, GA. Great Grandchildren: Adison Clary, Caleb Clary (Madison), Kaylee Clary, Effie Clary, Trace Clary, Pearl Phillips and Colt Phillips. Great Great Grandchild: Penelope Gamboa.
