Born to Delbert Gentry Oliver and Wedena O’Neal Oliver on December 28, 1955 in Lufkin, Texas. Bruce graduated from Auburn University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degrees in vocational and adult education followed by a masters of curriculum development and industrial education in 1999. He was the Department Head of the Air Conditioning Technology Department from 1999 to 2009.

Bruce celebrated life. He had a big personality, a big grin, and an even bigger heart. He loved to write, sing, and play music. He loved to cook, feed, and entertain and he never met a stranger. He enlisted in the United States Army at 17 years old and was stationed in Germany where he reached the rank of Supply Sargeant, learned to make his famous Jaeger Schnitzel, and performed music for the American Rodeo Circuit. After returning home he was honorably discharged due to an injury while in service. He loved Jesus and was an ordained Reverend with the Church of God and has served as a pastor and evangelist. He loved country music and later produced a record with a song reaching number two on the country music charts in Texas. He owned multiple businesses throughout his life but found a true passion for education. He was thrilled to spend a decade educating others and helping them in their vocation. Upon retiring, he lived on his houseboat in Lake Eufaula where he enjoyed fishing and had some of his most cherished memories with some of his dearest friends. He then spent some time in Missouri, and Texas before settling back in Columbus, GA. Bruce left a lasting impression with any person he met. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He taught his children about hard work, respect, honor, responsibilities and kindness. He was a brother and a friend to anyone who needed one. He often gave generously to others. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
