Brenda Joyce Sanes

Brenda Joyce Sanes “Grannie” of Columbus, GA went to her heavenly home peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the age of 77 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at University Assembly of God with Pastor Ed Ray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery following the service, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Grannie was born September 13, 1945, and went home to be with her parents, Benjamin Hiram Shavers and Maggie Mae Shavers. Grannie cherished and deeply loved her family; they were the joys of her life. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Grannie loved raising her 4 great grandchildren. She also loved watching the Golden Girls and TLC. Grannie was preceded in death by her brothers, James Shavers, Aaron Shavers, and Ben Shavers.

Grannie is survived by her husband of 60 loving years, Robert (Bobby) Sanes, of Columbus, GA, children Robert Earl Sanes and Rhonda Ann Bartlett, brothers Donnie Shavers (Cindy) and Richard Shavers (Shalina), grandchildren, Joseph Collins (Brandi), Ryan Sanes, Brandon Collins (Mallory), and Amber Cofield, great grandchildren, Johnathan, Joey, Wyatt, Raelyn, Rilee, Micah, Brenlee, Matthew, McKenzie, JC, Blake, Michaela and numerous of nieces and nephews. Grannie was a faithful Christian and loved attending University Assembly of God. We know that God is pleased to have a generous angel back in his arms where she belongs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the University Assembly of God, 3314 University Avenue, Columbus, GA, 31907, but prayers will work just fine.
