Brenda Faye Hilton, 73, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice surrounded by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2014 and the funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2014, with Rev. Jim Hilderbrand officiating at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. There will be a private family interment at Parkhill Cemetery following the funeral service.
Mrs. Hilton was born July 27, 1940 in Chester, South Carolina, the daughter of the late William Hughey and Golden Ceal Lipford Brazil. She was an administrative assistant and retiree of Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA.
Mrs. Hilton was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, the more the merrier, and encouraged those around her to live life to the fullest. She wanted them to be happy and joyful. Her personality was one that simply liked to have fun, was outgoing, and had an active zeal for life. Her social life included the Red Hat Society, Young at Heart program at First Baptist Church, Friends Unlimited singles group, and the performing arts program at Columbus State University. She also enjoyed traveling, music, dancing and attending cultural events at the Springer Opera House. She loved many including her beloved family and friends and leaves them behind to cherish her lively memory.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Carroll Hilton and brother, Carl Hughey.
Survivors include her two daughters, Teresa Kay Harrell of Columbus, GA and Deborah Fay Graham with husband Tom, of Aurora, CO; two sons, Jan Albert Cunnington of Hudson, FL and Dr. Michael Edward Hilton with wife Serena, of Monroe, GA; 10 grandchilden and 7 great-grandchildren.
