Born on August 25, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, Brady lived a life filled with dedication, service, and a deep appreciation for those around him. Drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Germany before returning home to the Ft. Benning and Columbus area where he would marry his wife, Polly, and begin his family life.

After working in a variety of occupations over the years, Brady found his calling at the United States Postal Service. He started his career there loading trucks and worked his way up to the position of postmaster. In this role, he thrived by connecting with customers and building lasting relationships. His warm demeanor, and commitment to his community made him a trusted and beloved figure in his workplace.

Outside of his career, Brady found immense joy in nurturing both people and plants. He was known for his remarkable green thumb, a passion he inherited from his parents and grandparents. His love for gardening and nurturing plants flourished throughout his life.  His plants, like the many relationships he cultivated, thrived under his care. He had a particular passion for refinishing and restoring furniture, skillfully bringing new life to old pieces. This love for craftsmanship was a reflection of his patient nature.

Brady’s quick wit and infectious sense of humor made him a joy to be around—he had an uncanny ability to bring smiles wherever he went. His laughter was a gift that brightened every room he entered and left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to meet him. His generosity extended beyond his family as he volunteered at Park Elementary School and Callaway Gardens, sharing his time and talents with the community. He dedicated many years of his life as an interpreter for the deaf, and faithfully served the deaf community in ministry.  A longtime member of Greater Life Baptist Church, his faith was a guiding force throughout his life.

Brady was known for his unwavering love and devotion for his family.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.  His love for them was immeasurable and he took great pride in being an active part of their lives.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Polly Summerall; their four children Susan Proft (Greg), Brad Summerall (Kaitlin), Charles Summerall (Tangie), and Kristin Summerall; twelve grandchildren Stephanie (Cody), Morgan (Andrew), Manuel (Ekta), Sarah (Thomas), Matt, Alexander, Tristan (Allysa), John Thomas, Cheyenne, Wyatt, Boone, and Finn; four great-grandchildren Alvin, Elodie, Arabella and Penelope; his sister Marliss Smith; brothers Brian Summerall (Valerie) and Lee Summerall (Lori); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Louise Summerall.

Brady’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
