Bobby R. Shackelford 79, of Cataula, Ga. died Saturday, July 04, 2020 at his residence.
A crypt-side service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 08, 2020 in the Chapel of Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Sasser officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Pines Mausoleum. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 facemasks will be required for those attending the visitation or service. The service will be livestreamed through the Facebook page of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bobby was born November 25, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late H.K. and Beatrice Thornhill Shackelford. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired after 30 years of service with the United City Gas Company and later retired after serving 10 years with Shaw High School. Bobby was a member of the Model A Car Club, past President of the East Columbus Lions Club, longtime Chaperone for the Lions Club Washington D.C. Educational Tour, Valley Motorcycle Touring Association, Diplomat Club of Columbus, Ga. and former member of Hamp Stevens United Methodist Church and current member of East Highland United Methodist Church. Bobby never met a stranger, he loved spending time with his family, friends and remodeling Antique cars.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Bagley Shackelford of Cataula, Ga., sons, Jeffery Shackelford (Stephanie) of Memphis, TN., Jason Shackelford (Whitney) of Ellerslie, GA., step-daughter, Angie Bullard of Cataula, GA., sister, Glenda Shackelford Crew (Ken) of Columbus, GA., 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
