Bobbie Jean Matthews, 80, of Phenix City, AL died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eugene Bowman officiating. A private interment will be held at Philadelphia Cemetery in Smiths, AL. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL 36867.

Mrs. Matthews was born March 19, 1931 in Andalusia, AL daughter of the late William Henry Greer and Mary E. Butler Greer. She worked at Bags Sewing Factory in Columbus, GA for 15 years. She later was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Phenix City, AL. Crocheting was a hobby she greatly enjoyed along with camping with her family. Mrs. Matthews was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Matthews, Jr. and two brothers.

Survivors include her son, Danny Daniels (Loretta) of Phenix City, AL, daughter, Barbara Taylor of Summersville, West Virginia, brother, Terry Greer (Helen) of Smiths, AL, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to New Hope Free Will Baptist Church 223 Woodland Dr. Phenix City, AL 36867.
