Bill “Dickie” Hutchinson passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 after a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 facemasks and social distancing will be required during the service.
Dickie was born April 14, 1951 on Oakland, CA to the late William Richard Hutchinson, Sr. and Jeanette Gore Hutchinson Kirby, where his father was serving In the Navy. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1969 and also received his Eagle Scout that year. He attended Auburn University and received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Columbus State University in 1987. Before his retirement, he was employed at Pratt-Whitney, Georgia Quick Start and Columbus Technical College on the Economic department. Dickie was an advocate for career and technical training and supported a variety of companies with employee training. He supported the Engineering magnet at Northside High School as the program got started and was active in the Partners in Education program there. He was a frustrated Atlanta Falcons’ fan and a die-hard War Eagle to the end. Friends and family will remember him for his quirky, often sarcastic, t-shirts.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, John and Renee Mallory of Columbus, GA , brother and sister-in-law, Clay and Diane Hutchinson of Cedartown, GA, and nephew, Chris Mallory of Bend, OR.
