Betty Johns Walburg, 75 of Columbus died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery with Rev. Scott Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Walburg was born November 21, 1936 in Hot Springs, AR daughter of the late Riley Raymond Johns and Nellie Coleman Johns. She retired after 25 years from Hancock Fabrics. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert George Walburg.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Tuszka (Terrence) of Midland, GA; sons, Robert G. Walburg, Jr. (Ann) of Gainesville, GA, Donald Walburg (Jean) of Midland, GA, Gregory Walburg of Ellerslie, GA and Steven Walburg (Jon Marie) of Columbus, GA; sisters, Loretta Hammett of Midland, GA, Maxine Phillips and Wanda Johns both of Hot Springs, AR; brothers, Jimmy Johns and Richard Johns both of Texas; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Macular Degeneration Research, c/o American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
