Betty Ruth Smith, born May 12, 1935 at Brooklyn Community in Stewart County, died at St. Francis Hospital on December 27, 2011.
Funeral will be graveside at 2:00 PM at Harmony Cemetery in Richland, GA. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM at the cemetery. Reverend Clyde Grimsley will be officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Ms. Smith was an original member of Stewart County Emergency Medical Service. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, and had worked at Stewart-Webster Hospital in Richland, GA, Marion Memorial Hospital in Buena Vista, GA, and Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, GA. Ms. Smith lived in Richland, GA until she retired. In later years, she moved to Calvary Community in Columbus, GA and then to Magnolia Manor in Columbus, GA, where she lived until her passing.
She was a very devoted mother and grandmother, who loved her children and grandchildren very much.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, John Gordon and Annie Laura Smith, brothers, Merrill Smith, John Nolan Smith, George A. (Buck) Smith, a sister, Rebecca Ann Smith Bonner, and a son, Danny Williams.
She is survived by her brothers, Wayne Smith and Gene Autry Smith, and daughters, Brenda Ann Williams Cureton (David) and Betty Jean Williams Hanson (Cliff), a granddaughter, Jeany Cureton, and grandsons, Pascal David Cureton, III and Billy Hanson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Red Hill Christian Church P.O. Box 248 Richland, GA 31825.
