Betty Merle Lawhon, 70, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Mike McBride officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lawhon was born December 21, 1945, daughter of the late Russell Phillip Napier and Olga Miller Napier. She was the third of seven children. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Ray Lawhon, Sr., her sisters, Jackie Posey, Martha Butler and Linda Chase, and her brothers, Leroy Napier and Leon Napier.
Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Charles Lawhon, Sr., her brother, Russell Napier, Jr., her sons, Charles Lawhon, Jr. (Becky), James Lawhon and Rickie Lawhon, five grandchildren, Katherine Lawhon Weihl (Erick), Tony Lawhon, Jr. (Monica), Nicole Lawhon (DJ), Erica Brasher (Johnathan), and Samantha McNeal (Braden). She also leaves behind six great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
