Betty Jean Smith, 68, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday August 25, 2010 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday August 28, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Van Dyke officiating, interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Smith was born April 13, 1942 in Lynchburg, VA to the late Richard Baber and Sarah Mason Baber. She was a business owner for many years in the restaurant business. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Smith, children, Jamie Smith and Cora Glasgow, sisters, Cora Lillian Baber, Dorothy Thompson, and Virginia Lambert.
Survivors include her daughters, Kaye Stapler (Michael) of Phenix City, AL, Evyette Mays (Ken) of Wetumpka, AL, son, Robert Wheeler (Lindsay) of Madison Heights, VA, sisters, Louise Drinkard of Lynchburg, VA and Sylvia Nelson of Oklahoma, brother, Richard W. Baber of Lynchburg, VA, grandchildren, Sarah Epps, Kayla Brown, Rex Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Riley Wheeler, Linessa Wheeler, Brandy Sickler (Cliffton Kholbry), Sarah Dunnivan, Kenneth Mays, Josh Mays, Erika Mays, Mario Perez, Michelle Perez, great grandchildren, Devin Perez, Christopher Garcia, Tarah Epps, Felix Perez, Kaylee Kholbry, Daniel Kholbry, Ethan Kholbry, Ivy Kholbry, and lifelong friends, â
