Betty Jean (Bragg) Dowling

Betty Jean Bragg Dowling, 93 of Columbus, GA passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at her residence. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 21, 2025 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Stephen Brinkman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private entombment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

Betty was born September 30, 1931 in Enterprise, AL daughter of the late Frank Caldwell Bragg and the late Willie Clyde Jones Bragg. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family. She love to ballroom dance with her late husband, Edward Dowling. Betty was a very happy and content person who would always say “it’s all about your attitude”. She graduated from Jordan High School where she played in the famous Bob Barr Band. She was a very strong and smart business woman who owned and operated Crest Cleaners. Mrs. Betty was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Edward C. Dowling.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Blankenship (Jeff) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Jay Blankenship (Angela) of Columbus, GA, Russ Blankenship (Allyson) of Columbus, GA, Tripp Blankenship (Crystal Combs) of Charlotte, NC, Blaire Bingham (Drew) of Marietta, GA; great grandchildren, Mitchell, Carey Frances Kramer (Nick), Ben, Luke, Lillie, Jack, Connor, Anna Beth, Wylie, Mary Grace, and Jeffery.
