Bessie Kathleen Wilbanks, 90, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Magnolia Manor.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Wilbanks was born August 30, 1924 in Sylvester, GA, daughter to the late Jess Woodall and Margaret Hazslip Woodall. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Wheeler Wilbanks, II, a son, Samuel Joseph Wilbanks, a daughter, Deborah Jo Wilbanks, brothers, Jess Woodall, Jr., Jesse Lamar Woodall, sisters, Shelby Woodall Maddox and Winifred Woodall Cox and grandson, Samuel Drew Wilbanks.
During World War II, Mrs. Wilbanks was a "Rosie the Riviter" for Bell Aircraft. She then went on to marry and retired from Sears as a retail Salesperson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all.
Survivors include, daughter, JoAnn Lee; sons, James D. Langford, Joseph Stephen Wilbanks, Joseph Wheeler Wilbanks, III; grandchildren, Stacey D. Langford, Sabrina G. Langford, Brandi A. Langford, Brian L. Wilbanks, Samuel D. Wilbanks, Kathryn Michelle Macaulay, Mary Paige Macaulay, Johnathan Stephen Wilbanks, Alicia J. Anderson, Joseph T. Fic, Mary Slade Rimmer, Joseph Weeler Wilbanks, IV and many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
