Battalion Chief (RET) Jimmy Douglas DeBice, 74, of Hamilton, GA, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at home.

A service to celebrate his life, with Fireman Honors, will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024, in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Keith Jennings and Rev. Dan Tharpe officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at the Chapel of the Pines at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Jimmy, born on September 15, 1949, in Columbus, GA, was the beloved son of the late Claude Riley DeBice and Jimmie Dorothy Reeves DeBice. Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Powell, and his brothers, Claude Raymond DeBice and Philip Renny DeBice.

Surviving family members include his devoted wife of 27 years, Jean Stanek DeBice of Hamilton, GA; children, Jenny Goodwin (Andy Birdsall) of Smyrna, GA, Joey Martin (Charlton) of Salem, AL, Phillip DeBice (Martha) of Columbus, GA, Michael DeBice (Stephanie) of Columbus, GA, John Powell (Crystal) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Alex) of Bedford, United Kingdom, Charlton Martin II (Taylor) of Salem, AL, Annah Preston of Hamilton, GA, Jackson Wells of Columbus, GA, Mitchell Goodwin of Marietta, GA, Destin Whittamore (Zackary) of Phenix City, AL, Jordan Wells of Savannah, GA, Rhett Butler of Cataula, GA, Reagan Goodwin of Athens, GA, Blake DeBice of Columbus, GA, Kathryn DeBice of Columbus, GA, Riley DeBice of Smiths Station, AL; great-grandchildren, McKinley Martin, Shannon Martin, Reese Castellow, Waverleigh Butler, Penelope Whittamore.
