Barbara Givens Hardwick 77 of Midland, Georgia died Friday, April 25, 2014 at her residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 02, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Jones officiating. A private family interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 01, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mrs. Hardwick was born March 27, 1937 in Dothan, Al. daughter of the late B.A. and Willie Givens. She was a resident of Columbus since 1942 and was the 1956 graduate of Jordan High School. Barbara married Bill Hardwick on November 27, 1957 and was the mother of two sons. She was a homemaker, and a fabulous cook. Her southern cooking was memorable, and the family always wanted to be home by dinnertime. She loved spending time with her family, especially her dearly loved grandchildren. Barbara liked gardening, nature and taking care of her beloved pets. She also enjoyed family trips to the national parks and learning about Native American culture at reservations in the West.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bill Hardwick; two sons, Chris Hardwick (Bettina) and Jeff Hardwick (Michelle); four grandchildren Evan, Luke, Aaron, and Abbigail Hardwick; sister-in-law; Ann Harrell (Raymond); one nephew, three nieces and several cousins.
