Austin Roy Gammell, 93 of Columbus died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Vista Care at Franciscan Woods.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. A private interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mr. Gammell was born October 26, 1916 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late Hattie Skinner Gammell and Foye James Gammell. He was retired after 35 years of service as a fireman with civil service at Ft. Benning, GA. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and a member of the Good News Sunday School Class. He was also a former member of the Gallops Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine Ethel Gammell, grandchildren Troy Bryan, Keely Jo Herring and Myriah Pell.
Survivors include his daughters Joyce G. Bryan (Wayne) of Opelika, AL, Brenda G. Folsom (Roy) and Carol G. Roughton (C.D.) all of Columbus, GA; five grandchildren, David Roughton, Traci R. Donaldson, Stephaine Barnes, Paul Bryan, Trent Herring; seven great grandchildren, Allyson Barnes, Zachary Donaldson, Ginger Roughton, Crystal Rodgers, Austin Bryan, Maci Bryan and Tristin Bryan.
