Artie L. Massey, 90, of Columbus, GA, passed on to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Bill Purvis officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Massey was born January 18, 1924 in Bonifay, FL, daughter of the late Armour and Melvina Register. She retired from Sunshine Biscuit Co. in 1986 after 30 years of service. Mrs. Massey was a long time member of Cascade Hills Church and was very active in her Sunday School Class, "The Prime Timers". She was well known for her acts of kindness and her sincere compassion for others. Mrs. Massey loved people and deeply treasured her friends and family. She was blessed with a green thumb and spent much of her time gardening and working in her yard. Mrs. Massey loved to bake and cook and spent many hours canning her goods that she shared with her friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Massey; sisters, Ethel Register Jackson, Odell Register Jackson, Ann Register Byrd; brothers, Avery (Slim) Register, Haven Register, Cull Register, Stelson (Bud) Register.
Survivors include her daughter, Delores Taylor (Wister) of Dothan, AL; sister, Dean Darley (Kenneth) of Jonesboro, GA; brothers, A.T. (Joe) Register of Wildwood, FL, and Jackson (Jack) Register of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren, Ronald Myers (Loretta) of OK, Christopher Woodham and Andy Woodham (Tammy) both of Dothan, AL; great- grandchildren, Natalie, John, and DeAnne Myers of OK; a special niece, Brenda Lowe (Marvin) of Union, KY; close friends, Don and Beth Bohannon of Waverly Hall, GA and Kathy Gray of Fortson, GA; aunts, Dot Kunz of Columbus, GA and Flossie Richardson of Bonifay, FL; two sisters-in-law, Lovie Register and May Register, and a host of other relatives and friends.
