Anthony (Tony) Sabatini Barriga

Anthony (Tony) Sabatini Barriga, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held to honor his life at 3:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory; 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fort Moore Military Retiree Cemetery.

Tony was born June 29, 1934 in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Ralph Barriga and Mary nee DiSimone Barriga. Tony retired from the United States Marine Corp and was a Sports Director for the Georgia Paralyzed Veterans of America. In his earlier years Tony was a champion in the Paralympics participating in snow skiing, track, and basketball. Tony adored his grandchildren, traveling, and was an avid fisherman competing in many PVA Bass tournaments.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanie Sprouse.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Doris Barriga of Columbus, GA, son, David Roberts (Stephanie) of Auburn, ME, daughters, Suzanne Roberts of Columbus, GA, Jennifer Terry of Columbus, GA, Scott Terry of Columbus, GA, his beloved grandchildren, Sam, Zachary, Dillon, Cayden, Stacey, Sarah, Timmy, his adorable great-grandchildren, Finley, Penelope, Cole, Chase, Treven, Collin, Jaxon, and son-in-law, Nile Sprouse.
