Annie Blan Olive, 96, of Columbus, GA died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 2, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Johnson and Mr. Pete Tucker officiating. There will be a private interment at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. 31907.
Mrs. Olive was born November 17, 1917 in Frankfort, AL, daughter of the late Simeon Jones and Ada Womble Jones. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, following her husband from Army post to Army post while raising her three children. When her husband retired from the military in 1967, they returned to Columbus. She was a member of Edgewood Church of Christ in Columbus. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her and was loved by all. She will certainly be missed.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Olive, Sr.; her son, John Edward Olive, Jr.; her grandson, Guy Olive; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Brandenburg (Ted) of Fortson, GA; son, Bobby Olive (Jackie) of Florence, AL; brother, Samuel Jones (Rita) of Magalia, CA ; grandchildren, Teddy Brandenburg, Jr. (Crystal), John Ed Olive (Kim), Lisa Albright (Chris), Todd Brandenburg (Laura), Audra Parker (Bill), and Jason Olive (Konnie); great grandchildren, Galen Smith, Hayden Olive-Talley, Sara Lawman (Andrew), Cory Brandenburg, Jed Olive, Keirsten Olive, Sevrin Olive, Savannah Olive, Miles Olive, Joshua Olive, Jacob Olive, Cameron Swendall, and Claudia Parker; and great great grandchildren, Aiden Lawman, Connor Lawman and Guy Smith.
A special thanks to nurses and staff at St. Francis Hospital and Franciscan Woods for their loving care. Many, many thanks to the staff and residents of Franciscan Woods who made her stay there so enjoyable. Also, a special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their love and support during her final days in making her comfortable with such loving care.
